Well, in point of fact, we have given £149,416 worth of bursaries so just under £150k but very close! We still thought it worth celebrating, especially in light of the worldwide pandemic which is bringing so much anxiety, pain and loss. We are very grateful to everyone who has given to the Trust and assure you that when 'service resumes', we shall be on hand to back all those wishing to travel for Christian service.
CORONA VIRUS
Still we can't ignore that 2020 has witnessed the global pandemic of covid-19 and for a charity whose purpose is to contribute to travel, this has obviously had an impact! We have seen that some bursary-holders' projects have been cancelled (and the bursaries returned) and we envisage a further slow-down in the number of people applying in the near future. We hope and pray that, as soon as it is safe, the numbers of people taking on Christian-related service will return and that we can be there to support them as much as we can.
Of course, after the pandemic, we do not know how attitudes to travel will have changed, and it is possible that there is a long-term shift in the locations or distances which people travel. There may be an increase in domestic projects, for example. As a Trust we will continue to be flexible and to support as many projects as possible that meet our criteria, be they based in the opposite side of the globe or closer to home.
Travel Blog
So that we can publish the exciting news stories that we get sent from bursary holders whom we support financially, we have included a testimonial blog. This has got their reports and photos which document the work they have achieved all over the world. Have a read and search the archive to give you an idea of the projects which we feel able to support.
tell everyone you know about us
One of the best things about the Timios Trust is seeing the variety of projects undertaken by our amazing bursary holders. The list of places visited by people supported by Timios continues to grow but we want to help even more volunteers. So if you know of someone in your church or community who is planning a trip which we may be able to support, do encourage them to apply.
And why not consider giving a donation in order to allow us to continue supporting those who want to improve the lives of others? We rely on small and regular gifts. Unlike very large charities which by nature have high costs, we put all of the money we're given towards bursaries so you know any donation is directly funding travel bursaries. If you want to discuss a donation please free to send us an email - contact us here.
