We are so grateful for those supporters who regularly give a gift to the Trust; many of you knew Tim and we appreciate your faithful generosity.
In the autumn we were the recipients of the proceeds from a charity golf day, arranged by the family and friends of Tim Croll a local Horsham man who died prematurely. We were touched by their action and the chairman was delighted to take part .The Trust has donated a trophy to be played for annually. We were also delighted to receive gifts given in lieu of wedding presents by friends of a bride and groom, both members of the local Baptist church. Timios Trust reaches milestone of £100,000 overseas bursaries awarded for Christian missions
This year we have reached the milestone of £100,000 given to recipients of bursaries. Over 300 bursaries awarded, countless people helped, and lives changed - we truly thank God for his amazing provision - from such tragedy comes great joy. For example Ben travelled to Africa with an organisation called GOMAD (Go make a difference in Tanzania) who partner TEAR fund. He writes ”as a team we built a Church, four water tanks, a large chicken shed, a goat shed and a toilet” The church was for the community, the water tanks for the village people who had no access to clean disease free water, the animal sheds for the farmer’s cooperative to enable local farmers to derive income from goats and chickens and the toilet to improve health He said “we were blessed to be able to serve such amazing people” We helped Ben to get to Africa; he helped others to help themselves Ruth went to work with poor Romany families in Romania “some highlights for me have been giving out firewood to families in the middle of a very harsh winter minus 20 degrees Celsius. The people we work with do not have central heating or running water, and firewood is very expensive. Some children stay under blankets in a damp bed for days at a time due to the cold” She added ”it still shocks me to confront the realities of poverty on a daily basis. I feel that God has been starting to show me what it means to serve people who come from a vastly underprivileged background” We were able to help Ruth travel to Romania because of the support of our friends here in the UK. Saturday 2nd July saw the first Timios Trust summer fete. Taking place at the Guildford Vicarage on an idyllic summer afternoon, we were joined by supporters who enjoyed cream teas accompanied by some gentle musical melodies. The fete made close to a thousand pounds for the trust, and many thanks go to Claire and Michael Lawson for hosting the event.
