My objective for my time in Colombia was to give the communities we were living with whatever they needed.  My first project was in Bogota, in a community in the ‘invasion’ areas, our objective here was to help with the children’s, youth and any other church groups, we had to emerge ourselves into their church and do whatever was going on, and this varied from home groups to evangelising on the street and bringing new families to our church. We also had a project that was given to us, this was to help improve their school’s sports hall, when we arrived the floors were filthy, the walls were crumbling and the roof was pretty much falling apart. This is how it looked when we were finished… The community were very welcoming, and the Millan Family were amazing and made being away from home so easy.

My time in Santa Marta wasn’t ever going to be enough time; I fell in love with the environment and the Curiel family immediately. Santa Marta was like a dream, the work we had to do to their home to improve the church and allow it to be two separate places, instead of the church being their home was so much fun and we all enjoyed it a lot! We had to mix cement and lay bricks and we all really enjoyed this kind of physical work. The main project was to place a roof connecting a new built house that was being used for the youth and kids groups to the main building; however we did end up doing a whole project of plumbing, and building walls and painting them. As well as doing the roof! The children’s groups and the youth groups in La Vina, were genuinely loving, beautiful young people, that have the biggest hearts for Jesus.
